This week, Apple continued the steady expansion of its Apple Sports app, expanding soccer coverage while offering tennis fans a new way to follow some of the biggest tournaments. Here’s the news.
Apple Sports adds soccer leagues and tennis brackets
When Apple first released the Apple Sports app, it offered a rather limited experience, both in terms of availability and which sports were actually covered.
Since then, the app has evolved on both fronts, expanding to more than 170 countries and regions and constantly adding support for new sports, leagues and tournaments.
Earlier this year, for example, Apple Sports reached 90 new countries and also introduced several FIFA World Cup-related features.
This week, Apple Sports was updated once again, adding the Australian Men’s A-League, Egyptian Premier League, Israeli Premier League, and South African Premiership to its soccer lineup.
Additionally, the app now allows tennis fans to “follow tournament draws in real time […]with brackets for Grand Slam and 1000-level tournaments,” Apple says, adding that users can “see matches and results at a glance for each round.”
