Casio has listed the new Edifice models on its European web pages. It’s the cheapest way to access the brand’s new 38mm watches. The EFR-109 series is presented on Casio’s European websites with four models, all at the price of 119 euros.
Three of them are equipped with steel bracelets. The EFR-109D-1A has a black dial, the EFR-109D-2A a dark blue one, and the EFR-109D-3A gets green with gold-colored hands and markers. The fourth, the EFR-109L-7A, uses a cream dial with a perforated brown leather strap, which is what Casio markets hardest in its photography. The entire series revolves around a Toyota 2000GT from the Toyota Automobile Museum, and Casio’s copy is about sports cars whose designs stand the test of time.
It is a three-hand watch with a date at 3 o’clock, applied baton hour markers, and a thin chapter ring printed on the outside. The case is made of stainless steel and measures 45.3 x 38 x 9.8mm, so it’s thin enough to slip under your shirt cuff. Casio also points to the crystal; it is slightly domed and designed to give the dial a vintage depth. Keep in mind that it is mineral glass, not sapphire.
The rest is quite simple. Water resistance is rated at 10 bar, the quartz movement is accurate to ±20 seconds per month, and the SR920SW battery should last about three years. The bracelet models weigh 97g and use a triple folding clasp with one-touch release, while the leather version drops to 44g.
All four are listed as “coming soon” on Casio’s Spanish, Dutch and German sites, with no date attached. However, the German site Uhren-Nerd reports a release date of October 1st on the German Casio store, so the wait shouldn’t be long.
