Apple’s next low-cost iPad is shaping up to have a faster chip and the hardware needed to run Apple Intelligence.
The 12th generation iPad is expected to bring Apple’s intelligence and Siri capabilities to Apple’s entry-level tablet. It could also get faster cellular and wireless connectivity.
It appears to be the same iPad that was rumored to release in early 2026.
Details found in Apple code, spotted by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, identifies an A19 chip and 8GB of RAM. The A19 supports Apple Intelligence, while 8GB meets the minimum memory requirements.
The code also indicates a C1X modem, which supports sub-6GHz 5G. An N1 networking chip would enable Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
Apple has not announced a release date or price for the new iPad. Current rumors suggest that the device could launch in spring 2027, with a starting price likely to match the current model’s $449.
