iOS 27.2 is coming surprisingly soon. iOS 27.1 will only focus on iPhone Duo changes, so new features for everyone else are coming in iOS 27.2. Here’s when the update is expected to be released.
The launch of iOS 27.2 is confirmed in October, probably towards the end of the month
Apple is currently testing the beta version of iOS 27.2 and has been doing so for several weeks now. It was tested much earlier than an x.2 version normally would, but for good reason.
iPhone Duo will launch on October 23 with iOS 27.1. And all indications are that no other iPhones will receive that update, instead jumping straight to version 27.2.
By keeping iOS 27.1 exclusive to the iPhone Duo, Apple can keep more details of the software experience under wraps while potentially avoiding exposing them during a beta process. That’s why iOS 27.2 is currently in beta instead.
When will iOS 27.2 launch? We know it’s coming in October.
Last month, when iOS 27 debuted, Apple said Siri AI would add support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish “next month.”
These new Siri languages are included in iOS 27.2, thus confirming an October release. Additional new features coming with iOS 27.2 include:
Historically, Apple has pushed out its first feature update after a major new operating system release in late October, and that’s what we expect again this year. THE week of October 26th is the most likely launch window.
iOS 27.2 could always arrive slightly sooner, especially if the new hardware introduced next week comes pre-installed. But the rumored Home products probably won’t ship immediately. Instead, the first orders could be delivered during the last week of October, right when iOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and HomePod 27.2 are also shipping.
