Opera relaunches its Opera Air browser today with a conceptual and practical redesign for a more focused browsing experience. Here’s what it means.

Opera Air relaunches with renewed attention to distraction-free navigation

In early 2025, Opera announced Opera Air, which the company described as “the first web browser built around the concept of mindfulness.”

Since then, the company has refined not only Opera Air but the entire family of browsers it offers, including Opera One and Neon.

Today, Opera is relaunching Opera Air with an update that builds on its minimalist design and overall experience, and “keeps distractions to a minimum to give people more space to focus on what matters.”

Here is the work:

Air starts out simple, with a clean interface and additional tools available when you want them. You can also add messaging and social media apps to the sidebar.

The redesign also gives the Air a new visual look. The updated wallpapers use open spaces, perspective and natural textures, automatically adapting to Light and Dark themes.

Less on the surface doesn’t mean less underneath. Air comes with a built-in ad blocker for faster, less cluttered browsing and a free VPN for more online privacy and protection.

In line with Opera Air’s original idea, today’s update still includes Soundscapes, organized into four categories, which combine music and ambient sounds to help users concentrate or relax.

The atmosphere brings sounds such as sea waves and spring forest, while five new soundscapes feature original music composed especially for Opera Air. Among these is Hyperfocus, a more energetic track designed to adapt to a task and stay there.

And speaking of concentration, Opera Air also offers a number of features that help users take a break and regroup before resuming their browsing session.

This includes customizable pause reminders that call for breathing exercises, also divided into four categories (Destress, Refresh, Box Breathing, and Relax), as well as neck stretches. It can also be accessed from the sidebar, along with Soundscapes.

Opera Air is free and available for macOS and Windows, and you can find out more here.
