Apple’s flagship store on the Champs-Elysées will remain closed on Saturday as the company suspends retail operations across Paris ahead of planned protests.

Apple will close seven French stores on Saturday, October 24, as Paris braces for more protests following last weekend’s violence. The closures include all three Apple Stores in the French capital, while shopping malls around Paris are expected to remain open.

The Paris closures affect Apple Champs-Elysees, Apple Opera and Apple Marche Saint-Germain. All three stores will reopen Sunday with limited hours, noon to 6 p.m

Four locations outside Paris will also close on Saturday WWDwhich did not identify these stores.

Authorities banned rallies near the Champs-Elysées and rejected a proposed protest route from the Place de la Republique towards the Opera. France plans to deploy around 70,000 police and gendarmes nationwide on Saturday; 28 Paris Metro stations will close at 9am.

Looters often target high-value stores like Apple, hoping to snap up handfuls of electronics to resell. Yet there’s not much a potential thief can do with an iPhone stolen from a store before purchasing it.

Demo units will automatically brick once removed from a store.

The units stolen from Apple Lille displayed the warning above, which translates to: “Please return your device to Apple Lille. This device has been disabled and is being monitored. Local authorities will be notified.”

Demonstrations on October 17 escalated into rioting and looting, damaging shops near the Place de la Republique. As noted by the BBCmost protests began peacefully, expressing opposition to rising fuel prices, the cost of living, and deteriorating public services.
