Study Plan by AlphaTeta

DJs spend countless hours building playlists, setting cue points, and mastering their tracks. Now, AlphaTheta and Bitwig want to turn this preparation into something more creative, with an integration that brings familiar DJ libraries directly into music production.

For many DJs, the next step after mastering decks is to create something of their own. AlphaTheta’s new Studio Plan aims to make this transition easier by connecting rekordbox with Bitwig Studio Essentials, turning an existing music collection into a starting point for edits, remixes and original productions.

The cool part isn’t just having another music production application. Bitwig Studio 6.1.4 can read rekordbox libraries, including BPM, musical key, Hot Cue and track structure information. A song can be opened as a project with tempo and key already matched, while familiar cue points become markers for rearranging sections.

This opens up some practical possibilities. A DJ might shorten an overly long intro, build a new percussion section, add a synth phrase, or rearrange a track around the moments that work best on the dance floor. Bitwig Studio Essentials provides 40 instruments and effects, along with 10 modulators for more adventurous experimentation.

Stem separation, which will allow users to isolate vocals, drums, bass, and other elements, is also slated for a future update. It is not yet available via integration.

Studio Plan costs $7 per month or $72 per year in the US, with a 30-day free trial. The European price is €7 per month or €72 per year. The subscription is separate from rekordbox’s existing DJ software plans.

The real attraction is creative freedom. Instead of viewing a music library as a collection of finished songs, DJs can start to see it as material for something entirely new. Just remember that remixing copyrighted music does not automatically grant permission to distribute it.
