tvOS 27.2 was released Monday for Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later, but Apple TV doesn’t show release notes for software updates in the Settings app. Instead, Apple periodically updates a support document describing what’s new in tvOS updates, and the release notes for tvOS 27.2 are now available.
Keep in mind that Apple never released a tvOS 27.1 version, so tvOS 27.2 is the first Apple TV software update since tvOS 27 was released in September.
Apple says tvOS 27.2 includes some FaceTime improvements, as well as the ability to cycle through different screen saver categories. Additionally, the Find My app now supports Siri Remote (2nd generation) and later, but Precision Finding is limited to Siri Remote (4th generation). The update also contains bug fixes and security patches.
Here are the full release notes for Apple’s tvOS 27.2:
This update brings new ways to stay connected with FaceTime, customize your screensaver, and locate Siri Remote with Find My, plus bug fixes and security updates for your Apple TV 4K.
FaceTime
FaceTime connections make it easy to join calls directly from your Apple TV.
Sign language interpreter and subtitle support let you add third-party services to your calls.
Screensaver
Photo customization lets you use your iPhone to choose specific photos for your screensaver without sharing your entire library with Apple TV.
The Shuffle option lets you enjoy different screensaver categories as your Apple TV cycles through them.
Find mine
Find My support lets you locate your Siri Remote (2nd generation) or later using your iPhone.
Apple has said that Siri AI will be available on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later, but this feature is not yet enabled on these models on tvOS 27.2. The new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) launches on Friday, November 13, and Siri AI is one of its key new features, so perhaps the feature will arrive on older models closer to then.
