iOS 27.3 is packed with new features for iPhone, and it also includes one notable CarPlay change: a redesign of the Apple Music app.
The Apple Music app is redesigned from CarPlay in iOS 27.3 with several changes
This week Apple introduced the first beta of iOS 27.3, which brings new features for Safari and Apple Health, a one-handed update to iPhone Duo, several improvements to Siri’s AI, and much more.
CarPlay also benefits from iOS 27.3 which introduces a redesigned Apple Music app.
The new Music app, as shown in the images above and below, includes a number of changes such as a new Liquid Glass tab bar, a new color scheme, and the scaling of several elements.
Apple Music now uses an iOS-style Liquid Glass tab bar in CarPlay. Just like on your iPhone, the new tab bar features icons and text for each tab, and you can slide your finger to move between tabs.
The new tab bar hovers above content as you navigate the app, so it’s always within reach.
The new white background for the app matches that of the redesigned Apple Music app icon, first introduced in iOS 27.2. When dark appearance is turned on in CarPlay, you will get a dark background instead.
Finally, Apple has changed the size of several elements of the Music app. For me, iOS 27.3 has a denser layout in many places than before. In the Library, for example, the app displays more albums and playlists in a single row than before.
The configuration may vary depending on the size of the car display and whether “Smart Display Zoom” is activated.
