Siri AI is much smarter and more personalized than classic Siri, but it’s still not as advanced as proactive, always-on agents like OpenAI’s Dots and Meta’s Muse. That could change, though, according to a new rumor.
In his Ignition today’s newsletter, BloombergMark Gurman said he was told Apple could make Siri work “more like an agent” as early as next year. However, if this plan goes ahead, the exact implementation remains to be seen.
“Dots, Muse and Grok can track goals, determine what needs to happen next, and continue pursuing goals without the user initiating each individual step,” Gurman said. “Apple eventually wants to go in this direction, I’m told, and I think the company could make Siri more agent-like as early as next year.”
Apple’s AI ambitions may go beyond making Siri more agent-like. In a closed-door meeting in recent weeks, Gurman said Apple CEO John Ternus told Apple software engineering chief Craig Federighi that Apple needed to “accelerate” its software roadmap and “quickly move beyond just the improvements needed in Siri.”
