We’ve heard a lot about what to expect from Apple’s next-generation iPad mini, including an OLED display and a more water-resistant design.
A new leak today claims that the next iPad mini will also have some serious power: the new A20 Pro chip.
MacRumors today they discovered references to the new iPad mini within Apple’s code, including a supposed product icon for the device.
The icon suggests that the new iPad mini will have the same overall design as the current model. The camera, however, has been moved from the top bezel to the horizontal side, just like Apple’s other iPad models. There’s also a small cutout for the speaker at the top of the display, similar to the iPhone.
The code also says that the new iPad mini will be powered by the in-house A20 Pro chip. This is the same chip as the iPhone 18 Pro models, which launched last week. The current iPad mini, released in October 2024, runs on Apple’s A17 Pro chip.
The new iPad mini is expected to be released by the end of October, according to Mark Gurman. In addition to the changes mentioned above, the new iPad mini will reportedly offer better water resistance and a new speaker system.
