Apple TV today released the official trailer for “Being Heumann,” an Apple Original Films release from “CODA” director Siân Heder. Watch it below.
‘Being Heumann’ premieres November 13
Featuring an ensemble cast that Apple TV says “includes the widest array of disabled actors ever,” Siân Heder’s “Being Heumann” will premiere on the platform on Nov. 13, following a limited theatrical release on Nov. 6.
The film also stars Mark Ruffalo (Spotlight), Dylan O’Brien (Twinless) and Rob Delaney (Bad Monkey), among others, mixing drama and humor to tell the true story of the 28-day occupation of the Federal Building in San Francisco by disability rights protesters in 1977.
Here’s Apple TV on “Being Heumann”:
They wouldn’t return Judy Heumann’s phone calls, so she took their building. In 1977, a young disabled woman (Ruth Madeley) and a coalition of outsiders decide they’ve had enough. What begins as an impulsive act becomes the longest occupation of a federal building in American history, with hundreds of people spontaneously taking over government offices and refusing to leave until the bureaucrat in their way (Mark Ruffalo) intervenes. Bringing rebellion in all its forms into the hallowed halls, a movement’s accidental leaders struggle to find their path where none has ever been paved for them. Directed by Oscar winner Heder (“CODA”) and based on true events, “Being Heumann” is the groundbreaking, irreverent and deeply human story of unlikely people trying to achieve the impossible and change the lives of millions.
“Being Heumann” is directed and produced by Siân Heder, whose 2021 film “CODA” earned Apple its first Oscar for Best Picture in 2022. The film also won Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur.
