It’s a little ironic that the funniest apps we’ve seen for a brand new iPhone turn it into a decidedly old device. We’ve already seen a Sony Walkman emulator from the ’80s, and now Tiny Computers turns the Duo into a whole host of vintage Macs and more.
You can choose from four vintage Macs and a range of non-Apple machines from a similar era, including the Commodore 64…
The first of Apple’s devices is a 1984 OG Macintosh, reimagined as a laptop. Other Mac options are iMac G3, iBook G3, and PowerBook G4.
Outside of the Apple world, you get Commodore 64, IBM PC, Amiga 500, ThinkPad, and two different laptops with Windows 95 and Windows XP.
Each of the machines offers a limited degree of functionality.
Enjoy clicking keyboards, using command lines, drawing programs, floppy disks and familiar desktop games. Open windows, write a note, draw something small, and explore each computer’s personality. Hidden files, secret commands and a medal for each computer game are waiting to be found. Occasionally, Windows also crashes.
AS The daring fireball John Gruber comments: “If you have or get a Duo and don’t try it, you’re not wired correctly.”
Tiny Computers is available on the App Store.
