For many people this isn’t a problem, but if your iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max isn’t working on AT&T, this is what you need to do.
Even though all the bugs affecting the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max only affect a very small group of users, they are happening. In addition to the already reported Face ID restart bug, which will be fixed soon, AppleInsider was notified of an AT&T problem.
The problem is that, for affected users, it is not possible to make or receive calls on the cell phone. Calls work when using AT&T Wi-Fi Calling, but cellular signal strength varies or remains on SOS only.
Second AppleInsider podcast listener Rod, the problems started immediately and while AT&T acknowledged this, Apple did not. It is said to be eSIM related and AT&T advised Santiano to go back to his iPhone 17 Pro Max.
As a note, though, it’s a coincidence that he hasn’t already returned it in a boost trade. Additionally, affected users still have their iPhone 18 Pro and are now about a week into the 14-day return period.
Some users in a Reddit thread about the problem say they’ve found solutions, but they don’t seem to work consistently. A user on Apple’s discussion forums says their iPhone 18 Pro was deemed defective and was therefore replaced.
If you are affected by this bug, contact Apple and AT&T Support to document the issue. Details of all of Apple’s support options can be found on the company’s official support page.
AT&T has a service center for your devices. There’s also an AT&T app for iPhone.
Separately, AT&T said it has no plans to support Apple’s new iPhone Handoff feature. This is the iOS 27 option that allows users to have one number but two iPhones.
