A new report from Counterpoint Research claims that Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro will help drive a 50% increase in OLED notebook display shipments in 2026 alone. Here are the details.

New MacBook Pros and premium AI PCs are expected to fuel demand

In a report released today, Counterpoint Research forecasts that shipments of advanced notebook displays will grow 11% in 2026 compared to 2025, with OLED notebook display shipments expected to increase 50% for the period.

The report finds that 11% growth in advanced notebook display shipments will largely outpace the broader notebook display market, which Counterpoint expects to decline 3% year-over-year.

Counterpoint also expects OLEDs to increase their lead over MiniLEDs in the advanced notebook display market, rising from 56% of shipments in 2025 to 75% in 2026, while MiniLEDs are expected to decline from 44% to 25%.

The research firm says that part of the growth in notebook OLED panel shipments is expected to come from Apple’s adoption of the technology in its next-generation MacBook Pro, which is currently rumored to be announced on October 27 with a touchscreen display and a redesigned, significantly lighter chassis.

Here’s the counterpoint:

OLED notebook display shipments are expected to increase 50% in 2026 and another 24% in 2027. Apple’s early adoption of OLED in next-generation MacBook Pro models, along with continued demand for premium AI PCs, is expected to drive this growth.

Another factor contributing to the growth of OLEDs, Counterpoint says, are technological and manufacturing advances such as tandem OLED architectures, which improve brightness, energy efficiency and panel longevity.

Apple already uses tandem OLED in the iPad Pro, where two layers of OLED work together to deliver higher full-screen brightness. The company is expected to use a similar dual-stack tandem OLED architecture for the upcoming 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

Looking ahead, Counterpoint expects OLED notebook panel shipments to grow at a compound annual rate of 26% between 2024 and 2030, while panel revenues are expected to grow 35% annually over the same period.
