Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2700 could give Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor a run for its money. New reports from South Korea claim that the next-generation Exynos chip outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 by 20% in some CPU and GPU benchmarks. The results reportedly come from Samsung’s internal testing and have yet to be independently verified.

According to Yonhap News Agency and ChosunBiz, the Exynos 2700 scored around 13,000 points in the Geekbench 6.5 multicore test. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, tested on the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, scored around 11,000 points, giving the Samsung chip an advantage of around 20%.

The Exynos 2700 reportedly maintained a 15% lead in Geekbench 7. Interestingly, the gap widened significantly compared to the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 found in the Xiaomi 18 Pro. Samsung’s processor reportedly outperformed its Qualcomm counterpart by 44% in Geekbench 6.5 and 36% in Geekbench 7.

Things get equally interesting on the GPU front. In a demanding graphics workload involving unspecified gaming workloads, the Exynos 2700 achieved peak performance about 20 percent higher than Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon. However, its lead dropped to about 5 percent in a separate test involving basic graphics processing in demanding 3D games.

Previous leaks have also provided some insight into the architecture of the Exynos 2700. A die shot published by SemiAnalysis suggests that Samsung has reworked the processor’s 10-core CPU configuration, replacing the single-prime-core design of the Exynos 2600 with two prime cores.

The revised 1+4+1+4 layout is said to combine an Arm C2-Ultra core clocked at up to 4.24GHz with a C1-Ultra core running at 3.36GHz, along with eight C1-Pro and C2-Pro cores. The chip also features an Xclipse 970 GPU with eight Work Group processors, 24 MB of system-level cache, and LPDDR6 memory support. An earlier Geekbench AI listing offered further evidence of the revised CPU configuration and increased clock speed.

Additionally, Samsung has reportedly started producing the Exynos 2700 on the second-generation 2nm SF2P process, with initial production runs about 10% larger than that of its predecessor. An improved thermal path block packaging solution is also expected to aid in thermal management.

However, some skepticism is warranted. The latest reports do not identify the GPU benchmarks used or reveal detailed test conditions, power consumption data, or sustained performance measurements. As a result, the claimed improvements cannot be directly translated into real-world gaming performance. Qualcomm has also disputed separate allegations that its latest flagship processor suffers from overheating issues. The Exynos 2700 is expected to power at least some Galaxy S27 models next year, though its inclusion in the Galaxy S27 Ultra remains uncertain.
