This-is-my-biggest-complaint-about-AirPods-and-its-not.jpg

AirPods are one of Apple’s most interesting products. Their claim was largely made up by the fact that the company removed the headphone jack 10 years ago, and now most of us carry around this almost magical pair of earphones that do much more than simply play audio. AirPods offer the best noise cancellation and also act as a hearing aid. They get better and better almost every year.

For all that the AirPods do so well, I have a pet peeve with them, and it’s especially annoying because it could be such a simple software fix.

At this time, if your AirPods need to be charged and you connect your iPhone, you will receive a notification to charge your AirPods too. That’s because Apple believes it probably wouldn’t be a problem to charge your AirPods while you’re charging your iPhone, and this reminder has saved me many times from unknowingly having dead AirPods.

AirPods often end up dead in the case

If you’ve owned AirPods for a while, you may be familiar with this problem: something got stuck between the charging case pins and one of your AirPods, and you pull them out of the case with a dead one. This can often ruin your walk, commute, or so on.

At least to me it seems obvious to add a notification to let users know that one of their AirPods isn’t charging. If one of the AirPods is in the case and the other is not detected in the ear, it is likely that it is in the case but not charging, and Apple may then alert the user to adjust the AirPod or make sure there are no obstructions in the case.

It would be a super simple fix to such a major annoyance, and it would be yet another example of Apple’s magic letting you know that one of your AirPods isn’t charging, before it’s too late.

Hopefully, Apple can implement this feature in a later iOS update. The latest generation AirPods Pro 3 are currently on sale for $179, in case you don’t own a pair.
