The new iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max have been out for a week and have been amazing devices to use and test. While the current footprint and visual design remains unchanged, Apple has jazzed things up with new colors like Glacier, Burgundy, and a true Deep Black version. These colors are a nice addition to the iPhone lineup, but, of course, the main question I get asked is: which case should I buy to protect my new $1,200+ device? Luckily, there are already hundreds of case options for the new 18 Pro range and I’ve been lucky enough to test a bunch of them. I know cases are purely subjective and a matter of preference, but I thought I’d share some of my favorites!

I’ve always leaned towards ultra-thin and minimal cases. I love being able to protect my iPhone while maintaining its original design. If thin, lightweight cases are what you like, Pitaka’s Edge cases are the first option I would consider. Get:

Nomad’s Sport Case gives you the perfect balance of everyday protection while remaining relatively thin and lightweight. I chose the Lunar Gret color to contrast with the iPhone Deep Black and it looks great. This case brings:

This is without a doubt one of the most unique and fun cases I have ever reviewed. Xtremm Inno puts a 100% customizable full-color E-Ink display on the back of the iPhone. You can insert any image you want, like family photos, team logos, anime characters, literally anything. It’s all done via NFC, so the case doesn’t require a battery, power, or Bluetooth, keeping it as thin and light as any other regular case. It seems magical.

Now, if you need something a little more rugged with added protection but still want to show off the new burgundy color of the iPhone, then Rokform is a great choice. Not only is it extremely protective, but it also has Rokform’s proprietary locking system as well as MagSafe. This makes it even more useful for those who need to securely mount their iPhone to a bicycle, motorcycle, or other device that requires more than just magnets.

This is a brand I hadn’t heard much about until this year. They’ve been around for a while, but they just launched their new Weave line and I love the design, texture and multi-functionality of it all. Get:
- Textured fabric exterior with comfortable grip
- Integrated stand
- Speaker channels designed to direct audio forward
- Raised edges for screen and camera protection
- Built-in MagSafe
The directional function of the speakers is something I’ve never seen before and it actually makes quite a difference. Because of the way the speaker cutout is designed, it directs the audio directly towards you rather than to the left or right. Very unique touch! The BodyGuardz Weave is available on Amazon for $59
If you are someone who misses the old leather iPhone cases from years gone by, then Andar is the best alternative. I’ve been using their cases for years and they are some of the best leather cases on the market. Get:
- Genuine leather exterior that develops a unique patina over time and smells fantastic
- Internal lining in soft microfibre
- Raised edges around the display and camera for additional protection
- Cover dedicated to camera control and metal tactile buttons
- Built-in MagSafe compatibility and multiple color options
Their new black color matches the Deep Black iPhone so well that it almost makes the iPhone disappear into the shadows. They have over 10 colors to choose from and these cases get better with time. The Andar Aspen case is available for $70 and can be purchased directly through Andar.
Spigen’s Nano Pop case is a great option if you’re looking for something that color-matches and enhances your new iPhone. It has a two-tone design that looks especially great with the new Burgundy iPhone, and it also has uniquely textured sides for added grip in the hand. The Pop case offers you:

Final take
As I mentioned in the introduction, cases are highly subjective purchases. It’s almost like clothing, but for your phone. There is no right or wrong answer to any of these questions, it’s just a matter of what you think works and looks best. All of these have their own unique selling points and differentiators and come from very reputable brands, so there is nothing wrong with any of them. Personally I prefer to keep it as thin and light as possible, while I know my brother likes bulky and protective cases.
