Following a redesign of the Apple Music app icon, which replaced the familiar white musical note on a red background with a black-and-white look, Apple today updated Apple Music Classical to match the new design.

Apple Music Classical gets the black and white treatment

Today, Apple updated the Apple Music Classical app icon and interface to align with Apple Music’s new visual identity.

The new icon retains the familiar musical treble clef symbol, but now features a black symbol on a white background.

Interestingly, unlike the regular flat Apple Music icon, the Apple Music Classical icon has retained its three-dimensional appearance, with subtle lighting, shading, and transparency that give it a sense of depth.

Within the app, the red button accents have also been replaced with a shade of blue closer to the default color Apple uses in other apps.

Today’s update came just weeks after Apple unveiled a much more colorful branding campaign for Apple Music, as well as the app’s new monochrome icon, featuring images created using sound waves to move water.

While many assumed that Apple would eventually adopt the more colorful design as the new Apple Music app icon, today’s Apple Music Classical update suggests that the company is keeping the black-and-white look for its apps.

Apple Music Classical requires an active Apple Music subscription. You can sign up for $11.99 per month, with 1 month free, or as part of the Apple One bundle.
