Apple-requires-developers-to-disclose-location-sharing-and-dating-features.jpg

Starting November 16, Apple will require developers to disclose whether their apps include location sharing or real-world dating features so that age ratings can be assigned appropriately.

Apple says the dating and relationship disclosure is required for apps that allow dating or relationship bonding, regardless of whether it involves a real person or a virtual companion engaging in sexual or romantic content.

Apps that include Dating & Relationships must have a minimum age rating of 18+, but Shared Location apps may not see minimum age rating changes in some regions.

In Brazil, apps must have a rating of A16 for Location Sharing and A18 for Dating & Relationships. Apps that would benefit from a lower age rating, such as an app that offers location sharing for parents and children, can request a rating from Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

Apps must have shared location, dating and relationship information submitted via App Store Connect by January 12, 2027.
