Gears of War: E-Day launches worldwide on October 6 at 8am PT (3pm UTC) on Xbox Series Premium Edition owners, along with Game Pass subscribers who purchased the Premium Upgrade, began playing on October 1st. With multiplayer now occupied, The Coalition has addressed connection and login issues, and many have official fixes or workarounds.
What the October 5th update fixed
The studio’s October 5 patch notes cover several online issues ahead of the global release. The update fixed a bug that left some Versus Social games stuck on the “Waiting for Players” screen, improved Xbox authentication handling when the system clock differs significantly from the correct time, and fixed the Bilefrog-Kalona error, which could disconnect a split-screen player after pausing and resuming the game. Online session stability when accessing session information has also been improved. The same update fixed several campaign and Siege of the Horde bugs, including a missing extraction chopper in a Plaza Ruins Blitz mission, and players joining an existing campaign receiving War Log progress and Forge rewards earned before joining.
Quentin-Ephyra fix on Xbox
Xbox players might also come across it quentin-ephyrawhich The Coalition describes as an authentication error related to Xbox Quick Resume. The workaround listed on the Open Beta Known Issues page is to disable Quick Resume in the console’s system settings. Players who continue to see the error should disable it before trying something more drastic.
PC login and account errors
On PC, the same page directs players to Microsoft’s Game Services Repair Tool for Fatal low level error affecting Xbox app users and Steam account linking issues. Also list bryce-vigil AND gill-gutpunchercaused by a mismatch between the player’s hardware date and time and local time. The solution is the Synchronize time option in the Windows date and time settings.
Server status
The Coalition’s news page does not, at the time of publication, show any outage notices or maintenance announcements starting October 11th.
