iPhone Duo pre-orders will begin this Friday before shipping next week. If you’re wondering whether or not to benefit from AppleCare+, here are the iPhone Duo out-of-warranty repair costs.
Apple charges $1,499 to repair “other damage” on iPhone Duo
iPhone Duo is by far the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever made. Pricing starts at $1,999, and the most expensive 2TB model will set you back $3,199.
However, AppleCare+ adds another $19.99 per month to the purchase price, which some users may not want to shell out for. But what kind of repair costs does Apple charge without AppleCare?
Here are the out-of-warranty repair costs for iPhone Duo from Apple’s website:
Estimated service costs
- Overburden Damage: $49
- Rear glass damage: $199
- Battery Service: $229
- Rear camera damage: $229
- External display damage: $379
- Damage to external display and back glass: $509
- Internal display damage: $999
- Other damages: $1,499
These are only “estimated” because while Apple uses these rates to repair products, it states that “Apple Authorized Service Providers may set their own service rates and will provide their own estimate.”
Adding AppleCare+ dramatically reduces these costs. Some examples: theft or loss costs only $149 with AppleCare+, battery maintenance is free, damage to the front display costs only $29, and damage to the internal display costs $99.
