The first granular updates to major versions of Apple’s operating system have arrived, with 27.0.1 updates now available for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS.
Apple released its major annual operating system overhaul on September 14, bringing iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS to the 27th generation. Two weeks later, Apple released the first small update to the public.
The granular update is a minor version change and is quite typical for Apple to release shortly after major releases.
The new updates are:
- iOS 27.0.1, build 24A446
- iPadOS 27.0.1, build 24A446
- macOS 27.0.1, build 26A434
- watchOS 27.0.1, build 24R365
- visionOS 27.0.1, build 24M372.
Apple has also released granular updates to its previous operating systems.
- iOS 26.7.1, build 23H30
- iPadOS 26.7.1, version 23H30
- macOS 26.7.1, build 25G241
- macOS 15.8.1, build 24H32.
At this early stage, it’s unclear exactly what has changed with each operating system. However, while a granular release tends not to feature major feature changes, it usually includes bug fixes and performance improvements for issues that emerge after launch.
This will likely include fixes for things like Neural Engine timeouts and Face ID kernel panics. For the latter, Apple has confirmed that a software update will fix the problem.
